Named in honour of Masao Kato, probably the greatest koi hobbyist ever, who sadly passed away in May 2014.
Kato san achieved so much for the hobby and was a true enthusiast, spending decades visiting countries around the world to promote koi.
We wanted to honour his achievements and were therefore extremely proud to receive permission to name the Best Newcomer trophy after him -  undoubtedly the most appropriate trophy to carry his name.
